Are you getting excited for Rio 2016?!? It's just a few weeks away! In case you are like me and desperately trying to figure out the NBC television/streaming schedule, here are a few important dates I am setting the alarm for to catch the NBC streams (when they work, natch):
Friday, Aug 12th - At 5:30am PT, the Women's 10,000m finals will be the first track and field medal for this Olympics. Plenty of qualifying rounds for the 800m, 1500m, discus, long jump will also be happening should you need an excuse to make a double pot of coffee.
Saturday, Aug 13th - At 4pm PT, you've got a jam-packed afternoon starting with the Men's 10,000m finals (Go Galen!), plus the Women's 100m final, the Men's discus, and the Men's long jump finals.
Sunday, Aug 14th - At 5:30am PT, the Women's marathon kicks off, so watch for inspiration, go for a run, then come back at 4:15pm, when you've got the Men's 400m and 100m finals. The Women's triple jump caps off the evening.
Monday, Aug 15th - At 5:30am PT, the Women's 3000m Steeplechase and Hammer Throw have their finals, and at 4:15pm, the Men's pole vault, Men's 800m, and Women's 400m pick their medals.
Tuesday, Aug 16th - At 5:30am PT, the Men hit the triple jump while the Women decide the discus, and at 4:15pm, you've got a ton of finals happening - Men's high jump, Men's 110m hurdles, and the Women's 1500m...yeah!
Wednesday, Aug 17th - At 5:30am PT, the Men's 3000m Steeplechase finals kick off while Ashton Eaton and those decathaGods begin the events of the decathlon. The evening belongs to the ladies, when at 4:20pm the 200m finals (am I the only one with a Dafne Schippers crush? I think NOT), 100m hurdles, and long jump pick their medalists.
Thursday, Aug 18th - 2:35pm PT is prime time, as the Men's 200m final and Men's shot put go side by side with the Women's 400m hurdles and Javelin.
Friday, Aug 19th - Get your popcorn and be ready at 4:10pm PT for the Women's pole vault, the Men's hammer throw, the Women's 5,000m, and the always exciting Men's and Women's 4x100 relays.
Saturday, Aug 20th - It all goes down at 4:10pm PT, including the Men's 1500m and 5000m finals, the Women's 800m and high jump, the Men's javelin, and the 4x400 relays.
Sunday, Aug 21st - The one many of us ultrarunners are waiting for, the Men's marathon, kicks off at 5:30am PT.
Phew! I think it's best to adjust your sleep schedule now and taper into the big week. Let's do this!!!
