Back in 2013, I put together a "looking forward" presentation about the future of technology in running and outdoor sports. I am updating it for 2016 for the US Trail Running Conference in October, and wanted to ask all you tech nerds if you've seen anything super cool out there.
It's fascinating to see how much has changed in the last 2.5 years. The drones have definitely come on strong, with the new FAA drone registry already boasting 320,000+ registered units (well in excess of the number of planes registered). Fitbit and other vendors continue to sell tracking units at a blistering pace - 78.1 million wearables sold in 2015, an 171.6% increase compared to 2014. Google Glass didn't quite make it, but hey, they only spend $10.5 billion annually on R&D so you can't expect them to get everything right.
What do you think? Any great tech trends you have seen? You can also email me at scottdunlap [at] yahoo [dot] com if you want to keep it confidential.
Thanks!
SD
I'm not very tech-savvy, but I'm just commenting to say that I attended that conference in 2014 and it was a lot of fun! :) Colorado in the fall is amazing!
