Dean's latest favorite toy - the ElliptiGO - is the basis for his attempt at the record books for "most distance covered on an elliptical bike in 5 days". He will be ellipting (?) his way down the coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles, a distance of over 500 miles. You can follow him here.
I first saw the ElliptiGO at the Death Ride last year. Pretty cool that you can get the athletic benefit of an elliptical trainer while enjoying the outdoors. Here are some pics, courtesy of Eric C Gould:
I went to see him at his Los Gatos stop on the first day of the trip (3/15). He was seriously behind schedule, so I went back to work and returned later. I ended up being the only one there to see him, not counting the two store employees.
ReplyDeleteAnd the ElliptiGO does seem intriguing.
I'd be runnin' behind schedule too if I had to get around on those little chicken legs.
ReplyDeleteI don't get it. Why not just ride a bike. I'm pretty sure you can get the same physical benefits from cycling.
ReplyDeleteThat's Dean! Look what I can do! I bet he will write a book all about it!
ReplyDeleteLiving in the hills of East Tennessee, I have had my share of comments and trash thrown at me on my rides. I can only imagine the target on my back if I were to sport this thing on my country roads.
ReplyDeleteLooking at his legs!!! How much fat is on that mans body 3%?? I guess they will sell a lot now considering his influence in the running world.
ReplyDeleteI don't get the point. Why would anyone want to do this?
ReplyDeleteToo expensive!!
ReplyDeleteI've never even heard of a bike like that! Pretty neat though!
ReplyDeleteThat is the dorkiest thing I have ever seen. If I saw some dude coming down the street on that I would get the water balloons ready!
ReplyDeleteI already heard about this bike. It's kinda new but it think it's pretty fun though!
ReplyDeleteFlash forward to 2014. Meb Keflezighi, winner of the Boston Marathon, trained using this bike. Sometimes you shouldn't judge on looks alone.
ReplyDeletefirst time i ever came across a bike looking like that, its looks fun though
