Correct me if I'm wrong. Inov-8 shoes remind me of something that science fiction author and Byte magazine columnist Jerry Pournelle once said about English design - that if it can be designed uncomfortably and for maximum inconvenience, the British will do it. Tell me there's an Inov-8 shoe that doesn't feel like running barefoot over lava...

ReplyDeleteI've tried the Roclite 320s. The uppers are about perfect. Midsole, low the ground and flexible on all angles, all good. But, I need a little more forefoot rock push-thru protection.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny about Jerry Pournelle! A classic quote. I can't vouch for other British products, but the Inov-8's fit me better than any trail running shoe I have tried (and I have tried most of them). I have the opposite problem of Keith (who probably prefers Montrails and New Balance), in that my feet are narrow. I also like a low heel.

Thanks for the update, Scott--they sound great! I've become an Inov-8 convert via the Flyroc 310 and Terroc 330, for trail running and fastpacking. I am lustfully eyeing the Roclite 295s, but I still have some happy life in mine now! A great write-up in Trail Runner for the 295s :) --Mike V.

They need more dealers!! I've been lusting after a number of the models for awhile now, but I want to fondle them and try 'em on first. I've been harassing our local running store, but if you have any pull.. Kansas City needs a dealer!

ReplyDeleteInov-8 uncomfortable? Don't know how you can say that? I have a pair of terrocs 330's used now as a general camping shoe but been on various adventure races and trail marathons.
Inov-8 Mudroc 290's. Like slippers! Done various ultra distance and 2 day mountain running events. Still wearing them despite them just about to fall off my feet after 1 year.
The newest addition to the Inov-8 shoe stable is the Mudclaw 330. The really big beefy mountain/fell shoe, Designed to grip when going down mountains the fast way!
Any info on how the bags differ fro the current stable? Apart from color?
